Sky HISTORY Celebrates Young Filmmakers with 'The History Award'
Sky HISTORY launched The History Award, a pilot program designed to spark creativity and a love of history in students.
In 2024, Sky HISTORY partnered with Dame Alice Owen’s School to launch the award, challenging Year 9 pupils to create a 3-5 minute WWI film exploring untold stories and family history.
- Students worked with the Hearst Networks creative team over two months to workshop, shoot, and edit their films.
- Award-winning author and historian Hallie Rubenhold selected the inaugural winner, 13-year-old Hannah Sibley.
Hannah Sibley's film uncovered a poignant story of her grandmother’s lost love.
The winners spent a day at Hearst Networks, gaining behind-the-scenes access to the television broadcasting process.
