Heavy Rain and Flooding Disrupt Tourist Trains in Southwestern Colorado

Record precipitation has led to the closure of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, a popular attraction in Southwest Colorado.

The railroad, which offers a five-hour scenic round trip through Cascade Canyon and a two-hour ride to Silverton, announced its temporary closure on Facebook due to flooding and debris.

The train has continued daily operations and will continue to offer the Cascade Canyon round-trip over the coming days as they work on repairs.

Railroad crews are working daily to reopen the rail line, with hopes to resume Silverton service within the next few days.
