Boy on Bicycle Injured in Collision with Pickup Truck

An 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle sustained life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing 21st Street in Lewiston on Wednesday morning, according to the Lewiston Police Department.

The boy was crossing 21st Street at 11th Avenue via the crosswalk when a 1993 Ford F150 turned right from 11th Avenue to travel south on 21st Street. The pickup had a green light when it made the turn, but struck the boy in the crosswalk.

The driver of the pickup, a 21-year-old man from Lewiston, remained on the scene. Impairment was not a factor in the collision. The boy was taken to Joseph Regional Medical Center via ambulance, then taken to a hospital in Spokane by helicopter.

His injuries were described as

“life-threatening”
. The collision happened at about 7:40 a.m.
