CPS Response to HMCPSI Follow-up Inspection
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has received a follow-up report from His Majesty's Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) regarding the 2020 joint inspection of domestic abuse prosecutions.
The 2020 inspection examined the handling of evidence-led domestic abuse prosecution cases by the police and CPS, resulting in four recommendations for CPS improvement.
- The follow-up report assesses the progress made by the CPS in implementing these recommendations.
- Over the past five years, the CPS has worked at local and national levels to address the recommendations.
We are encouraged by HMCPSI’s recognition of the progress made to ensure the right mechanisms and frameworks are in place to support effective case handling; however, we are aware there is more work to be done to fully implement the recommendations.
