Researchers from Columbia University School of Nursing found that a lack of reliable transportation results in a 67% drop in specialist visits for residents of assisted living communities and nursing homes with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia.
With more supportive dementia-friendly transportation services, people with ADRD may become more mobile and independent and experience higher levels of transportation security, leading to better outcomes.
This finding was published in JAMDA, the Journal of the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association.
