Sharks Hold Off 'Catz to Start 1-0 in League Play
St. Francis and Watsonville entered the Pacific Coast Athletic League opener aiming to gain an early advantage in the Mission Division-North title race.
The Shark defense made a crucial stop, securing a 21-14 win over cross-town rival Wildcatz in league play on Oct. 11.
It feels great because it sets the tone for our other four league games. I think Watsonville is one of the best teams we’re gonna play in league.
St. Francis senior lineman Jacob Almeida praised his team's performance, and he, along with fellow offensive linemen, protected junior quarterback Max Madrigal, who completed 10 of 19 pass attempts for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
