Judges Clash with DOJ Over Tactics
Due to aggressive law enforcement in Washington D.C., federal grand juries have refused to indict almost a dozen cases presented by the Department of Justice (DOJ) over the past month, citing lack of probable cause.
DOJ lawyers attempted to bypass this by taking rejected cases to a local grand jury, but Judge Zia Faruqui, a federal magistrate judge, refused to accept the new indictments, stating that federal attorneys are trying to perform an "end-run" around usual processes.
