Third Severe Mpox Case Reported
LA County is investigating a possible local spread of mpox, with the latest case being an adult who was hospitalized and is now recovering at home.
The county has found no link between this case and the two previously reported cases in LA County and Long Beach.
Investigation Details
- The county is working with the California Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Surveillance and contact tracing are underway to identify additional cases and determine the source.
The local cases of clade I mpox are significant and warrant further investigation.
