Radiant Industries Invests in Tennessee Reactor Factory
California-based startup Radiant Industries is investing $280 million to build a reactor factory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
The site will produce transportable Kaleidos microreactors, with the first units expected in 2028, serving the nuclear industry since 1956.
- Construction is expected to start in early 2026.
- Production will scale up to 50 reactors a year.
- The new factory will be named R-50.
Radiant’s Kaleidos microreactor design uses high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) tristructural-isotropic (TRISO) fuel, helium gas coolant, and prismatic graphite blocks.
