Energy Roadmap Bill Reinforces Role of Renewables
The Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC) welcomes the introduction of the Energy Roadmap Amendment Bill 2025 to State Parliament.
The Bill replaces the previous objective of achieving renewable energy targets with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation.
“While we don’t support the repeal of the legislated renewable energy targets, the new objective of emissions reduction ensures renewable energy remains central to Queensland’s energy future,”
said QREC Chief Executive Officer Katie-Anne Mulder. The legislation provides clarity for investors and developers, balancing cost, reliability, and emissions.
