Great California ShakeOut at College of the Desert
The Great California ShakeOut is happening today at 10:16 AM, with people across the Coachella Valley joining millions worldwide in this annual earthquake drill.
Although the ShakeOut now takes place in over 50 countries, it originated in California. The purpose of the ShakeOut is to help individuals and communities prepare for a major earthquake through practice and education.
College of the Desert will be participating in today’s drill, with the Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network as a key partner, coordinating the event on campus and educating students on emergency safety, while also giving out free Go Bags filled with emergency supplies.
