Liberty Hall to reprise its role as an opera house for centennial anniversary screening with live piano accompaniment

Liberty Hall Celebrates Centennial Anniversary

To commemorate 100 years of movies, Liberty Hall will screen "Phantom of the Opera" with live piano accompaniment, reviving its role as an opera house.

The building initially opened as a movie theater in the 1924-1925 season and earlier this year, Liberty Hall launched a series to mark its centennial, screening a different 1925 silent movie each month.

Liberty Hall's history as the Bowersock Opera House adds to the eerie atmosphere of the black-and-white horror film.

According to the Spencer Research Library, Bowersock renovated the building in 1882 before it burned down in an electrical fire in 1911.

Author's summary: Liberty Hall marks 100 years with a special screening.
