Pope Leo gifted with "Proton" a purebred Arabian horse

Pope Leo XIV Receives Gift of Purebred Arabian Horse

Pope Leo XIV was gifted a 12-year-old purebred Arabian horse named Proton before the general audience on October 15.

The horse, a gift from Michalski Stables in Kołobrzeg-Budzistowo, will reside in Castel Gandolfo, home to the Vatican's equestrian center, where several purebred Spanish horses are also kept.

Michalski said he wished to offer “a beautiful Arabian horse — one worthy of him, and white, because white naturally corresponds to the Pope’s white cassock.”

The Arabian horse is one of the oldest and most esteemed equine breeds in the world, known for its elegance and endurance.

Pope Leo XIV was gifted the horse by Polish benefactor Andrzej Michalski.
