The Allahabad University has suspended 16 students for their involvement in an alleged ragging incident, according to officials on Tuesday.

A show-cause notice has been issued to the suspended students. An anti-ragging squad conducted a surprise inspection of Sir Sunderlal Hostel on October 9 after a complaint of ragging was filed.

During the inspection, several students were found to be involved in the act. A disciplinary committee later recommended action against 16 students.
