SoCal Freeway Shut Down Due to Live Ammunition Event

A 17-mile stretch of the I-5 freeway in Southern California was shut down on Saturday due to a military event involving live ammunition at Camp Pendleton, in celebration of the U.S. Marine Corps 250th anniversary.

Video provided by California officials shows live munitions being fired near the freeway Friday in an apparent practice run.

The freeway has since reopened on Saturday afternoon.
