Multiple towns on Vancouver Island have set new records for low temperatures, according to Environment Canada.
Qualicum Beach set a new record of -1 C on Oct. 14, breaking the previous record of -0.5 C set in 1992. Records in the area have been kept since 1962 and are measured at the Qualicum Beach Airport.

In contrast, Fort Nelson set a new warm temperature record of 19.4 C, beating the old mark of 19 C set in 1937.
