Winning lottery licence bidder Sizekhaya has dismissed suggestions of political connections with Deputy President Paul Mashatile as "gossip and conspiracy theories".
Losing bidder Ithuba Lottery is attempting to create "an atmosphere of wrongdoing", according to Sizekhaya, by referencing media reports of alleged political links.

Sizekhaya's attorney, Rishaban Moodley, stated in an affidavit that Ithuba Lottery is aware that the reports do not establish any breach of the Lotteries Act or the licence Request for Proposals requirements.
