Bob Ross Paintings to be Auctioned for APT's Create Fundraiser
Thirty original Bob Ross paintings will be sold to offset station licensing fees for American Public Television's Create multicast channel.
The auction, to be held by Bonhams over the next three years, will feature pieces painted by Ross on his series The Joy of Painting.
My head started ticking away, like, 'Well, this many paintings would equal this much, and this many paintings would equal this much,'
said Joan Kowalski, president of Bob Ross Inc., who conceived the idea after two privately held Ross paintings sold for around $100,000 each in August.
- Proceeds from the auction will help alleviate licensing fees for APT's Create channel.
- The sale is expected to raise significant funds, with the value of Ross's paintings being higher than anticipated.
