Many people attended an open house and anniversary celebration at The Jena Times office in Jena on October 8, marking 120 years of service to the parish.
The event was attended by state and local elected officials, executives in parish industry, and local businesses, allowing the newspaper to express its appreciation to advertisers and supporters.
The Jena Times is the oldest, continuously operated business in LaSalle Parish, founded in 1905, five years before the creation of LaSalle Parish.
"We really wanted to just hold a small event for our newspaper’s anniversary and were so blessed by the number of people who attended,"
said current owners Craig and Kim Franklin, expressing their deep appreciation to all attendees.
The Franklins added, "Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us."
