Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has given Speaker Mike Johnson an ultimatum: schedule Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva's swearing-in ceremony within two days or face a lawsuit.
Rep.-elect Grijalva, who was elected to represent Arizona's 7th Congressional District, has yet to be sworn in three weeks after her election. Mayes sent a letter to Johnson's office, stating that the oath of office ceremony must take place before the end of the federal government shutdown.
Mayes announced that she was sending the letter during the official canvas of the Sept. 23 special election results.
