Cody Balmer pleaded guilty to attempted murder for firebombing the home of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
Balmer, 38, faces 25 to 50 years in prison under a plea agreement, according to prosecutors.
He told police he harbored "hatred" towards Governor Shapiro and threw a Molotov cocktail at his official residence in April.
He would "have beaten him with his hammer" if he had encountered Shapiro during the attack.
