More than Half of Gen Z Canadians Feel Pressured to ‘Fake’ Financial Stability: TD Survey

Financial Anxiety Among Gen Z Canadians

A recent TD survey reveals that more than half of Gen Z Canadians (53%) feel pressured to present a financially stable image on social media, despite struggling with rising costs and low income.

Additionally, nearly two in three (65%) Gen Z respondents believe they are falling behind their peers financially, highlighting the conflict between appearance and reality.

“Gen Z is under constant pressure to appear financially secure as soon as they begin their careers, while many are struggling behind the scenes with stress, debt and uncertainty,” said Kristy Irwin, Product Group Owner, Youth & Student.

This pressure to "fake it till you make it" can exacerbate financial anxiety among young Canadians, making it essential to address the issue and promote financial literacy.
